Six people including five Chinese nationals were reportedly killed on Tuesday in a suicide attack in Shangla, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
As per media reports, terrorists attacked a vehicle of Chinese nationals in Shangla’s Besham city. Malakand’s deputy inspector general of police (DIG) has confirmed the attack.
According to the DIG, the attackers hit their vehicle, which was filled with explosives, with the car in which the Chinese nationals were traveling.
The Chinese nationals were engineers who were going to the Dasu camp from Islamabad. The driver of the Chinese passenger car was injured and has been shifted to the hospital. After the incident, the security forces have surrounded the area.
Dasu is the site of a major dam and the area has been attacked in the past as well. A blast on a bus had killed 13 people, including nine Chinese nationals, in 2021.
Images making rounds on social media platform X showed a vehicle engulfed in flames in a ravine next to the road while a bus is seen on the road above.
