ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is reported to have actively contemplated the option to arrest the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan in prohibited funding case.
The FIA had registered a case against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief and 10 others over accusations of receiving foreign funding. The case had been registered by the FIA Corporate Banking Circle.

The case’s First Information Report (FIR) stated that the accused including the former premier violated Foreign Exchange Act and all of the nominated persons were beneficiaries of the private bank account.
According to multiple media reports, the FIA has constituted a 4-members team under the supervision of Director Lahore division Sarfraz Khan Virk to arrest Imran Khan and hand him over to the Islamabad team.
Reports quoted sources as saying that the federal agency had earlier decided to arrest Imran Khan from his residence at Zaman Park but the party workers’ reaction led them to revisit their decision.
There are also reports suggesting that the FIA also consulted lawyers’ organizations so that the matter might go peacefully.
It is pertinent to mention here that the PTI Chairman is scheduled to appear in Lahore High Court (LHC) to seek protective bail, during which the FIA might try to arrest him.

It is also pertinent to mention here that on February 2, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had dismissed a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) ruling in prohibited funding case.
