PUNJAB: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cybercrime Wing (CCW) on Saturday claimed to have apprehended two suspects on suspicion of links to an international child pornography ring following a tip from Italy through Interpol.
According to FIA sources, on a tip-off, the Cybercrime Wing raided a house and detained two suspects in Sialkotfollowing a tip from Italy through Interpol.
Sources further said material retrieved from a computer allegedly belonging to one of the suspects showed “he was in contact with an international gang and was posting child pornography videos on the dark web.
The first suspect was interrogated after his arrest, leading to the capture of an accomplice from the area, but two other suspects remained at large, sources added.
FIA officials said, “This was the first time Interpol provided information to Pakistan about the presence of criminal operation involving child pornography in the country.”
Earlier, The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing had busted a large network operating an international pornographic website from Gujranwala Narowal, arresting one suspect of the gang.
According to sources, the officials of FIA on Tuesday conducted a raid in Narowal and arrest a man allegedly involved in child pornography.
The spokesman for the FIA said the officials conducted the raid after the information on the accused was shared with the Pakistani authorities by the Brazilian government.
After getting information on the accused from Interpol, the FIA took prompt action and arrested the man allegedly involved in child pornography, he had added.
During the raid the FIA team recovered more than 6,000 child pornography videos from his possession, the spokesman said, adding that the laptop of the accused and other devices have been sent to a forensic lab for examination.
He was part of an international gang involved in child pornography, the official said adding that the agency has acquired a four-day physical remand of the accused after registering a case against him.
