ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had launched a propaganda campaign on social media against the Supreme Court bench hearing presidential reference on Article 63-A which was highly condemnable.
He was talking to media along with Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Communication Shehbaz Gill outside the Supreme Court. The minister said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) respected all honourable judges of the apex court and hoped that they would follow the law and constitution.
Expressing his strong concerns over the attitude of Supreme Court Bar Association, he said that bars should not become subsidiary of political parties as their office bearers were elected from the votes of lawyers supporting various political parties.
He appealed to bar councils of Pakistan to take notice of highly biased attitude of some office bearers of SCBA and asked to hold them accountable for making entire bar hostage to their whims. Referring to the no confidence motion, the minister said that the opposition had started the game of chess but the government would finish it.
Replying to a question, he said that the Supreme Court had given clear guidelines for holding public rallies in Islamabad. He said that so far opposition parties had not applied for organizing any rally and apparently only PTI would hold the biggest rally of the history of the country next week.
Opposition movement attack on economy
Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar, while terming the opposition movement attack on country’s emerging economy, said that it would also fail. “The opposition political movement was not mere an attack on politics rather it was an effort to attack the country’s emerging economy,” he said.
He said the country’s economy was growing at over 5 percent for the last two consecutive years. The World Bank in its report also declared that there was lowest unemployment in Pakistan as compared to other countries of the region, he added.
He said the incumbent government put the national economy on right track which had left on verge of bankruptcy by PML-N. The minister said large scale manufacturing witnessed over 8 per cent increase while country’s export has reached to $30 billion.
He added the country’s foreign reserves have also been doubled as compared to the tenure of PML-N government. He said it was an old tactic of PML-N to make national institutions controversial and then make efforts to take perks from them.
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib said that a gang of looters got united to bring a no-confidence motion against the elected Prime Minister Imran Khan to save the national wealth looted by them when in power in the past.
