LAHORE: Senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Fawad Chaudhry has accused the government of running ‘toxic campaign’ against the judiciary. He also alleged that in the government, hand and glove with Geo group, has spent millions of rupees in only a week to finance this venomous campaign.

His comments came when ministers of the ruling coalition as well as some media personalities believed to be aligned with the PDM government started questioning, what they call and believe, biased judicial approach towards PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Some of these leaders and personalities went to the extent of terming recent judicial verdicts as ‘based on dual standards’.

It may be added here that most of the governmental figures have been acquitted by the same judiciary when drastic changes and amendments were introduced in relevant laws, including those of NAB, after the ruling coalition came to power in April last year.
Also, after being convicted in Panama case, the supremo of PMLN Nawaz Sharif got bail from the judiciary on medical grounds for 4 weeks and flew to London for treatment in 2019, and is yet to return back home. No one from the same government and media personalities has so far questioned the judicial standards to that effect.

Taking to Twitter on Monday, Fawad Chaudhry went on alleging that a ‘WhatsApp group’ backed by the government was continuously targeting the judiciary, and some of these figures were given employment by Geo group for the sole intention to carry out this (venomous) campaign.
