A major operation against the adulteration mafia during Ramadan has exposed a group manufacturing fake milk.
In a joint operation by the Punjab Food Authority and the Islamabad Food Authority, 13,000 liters of fake milk solution were recovered and destroyed on the spot.
According to the spokesperson, a raid was conducted on a house near Latrar Road on a tip-off where adulterated milk was being manufactured.
During the operation, 480 kg of Banaspati ghee, 50 kg of dry powder, and fake milk manufacturing machinery were also seized.
Officials say that the adulterated milk was to be manufactured from dry powder and Banaspati ghee and supplied to the twin cities during Ramadan.
According to officials, operations are also underway in Islamabad and other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the assistance of the Punjab Food Authority, while a case has been registered and an investigation has been initiated on the complaint of the Islamabad Food Authority.
Food officials said that the adulteration mafia becomes active due to the increase in consumption of milk and yogurt during Ramadan; however, strict action will continue against those who play with the health of citizens.
Citizens have been appealed to contact the helpline 1223 in case of any complaint.
