LAHORE: A vaccination centre has registered a COVID-19 vaccination on the identity card of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who is currently in London.
According to the registration details uploaded to the NADRA portal, Nawaz Sharif was administered the first dose of Sinovac on Wednesday, September 22 and has been summoned for the second dose on October 20.
The Punjab health department took notice of the incident at the Kot Khwaja Saeed vaccination centre. It said an investigation is being conducted against the vaccination centre for the false entry.
Sources revealed the corona vaccine was entered by a vaccinator named Naveed Altaf. It has also been reported that people are being falsely entered on a daily basis at the vaccination centre.
Nawaz Sharif travelled to the UK in November 2019 for medical treatment. In October 2019, the Islamabad High Court had granted Nawaz bail on humanitarian grounds and allowed him to travel to London. His bail expired in February 2020 but he is still in London.
The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has directed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to act against individuals involved in preparing fake COVID vaccination certificates.
In another incident, the FIA arrested a vaccinator for allegedly making fake Covid vaccine entries at a vaccination centre in Multan. The FIA said Imran was involved in making bogus Covid vaccine entries in the NADRA’s software at the Emerson College vaccination centre.
It said evidence of the illegal act was recovered from his mobile phone and WhatsApp. An investigation has been launched against him after registration of the case
On Sept 20, FIA carried out a raid at Multan’s COVID vaccination centres at Nishtar Hospital and Quaid-e-Azam Academy and arrested seven officials of the provincial health department over fake entries.
The cybercrime wing of the agency seized the entire vaccination record at the centres in order to launch a thorough probe against the suspects
