PESHAWAR: Senior lawyer and former President of Supreme Court Bar, Advocate Abdul Latif Afridi is reported to have been killed inside the room of Peshawar High Court Bar.

Initial reports gathered by MM News revealed that an assassin shot him multiple times from point blank range, critically injuring him.
Advocate Abdul Latif Afridi was immediately rushed to hospital but he could not survive. A spokesperson for Lady Reading Hospital said “Latif Afridi was brought dead to hospital.”

The attacker, a police spokesperson said, was arrested soon after he shot the senior lawyer. Sources told MM News that the attacker has been identified as Advocate Adnan, and a card recovered of Law College recovered from him. Adv Adnan Sami Ullah is nephew of the ATC Judge who was killed at Motorway in 2021. Latif Afridi was nominated in the case, but was later acquitted by court.

According to information available on public domain, Abdul Latif Afridi, who was also known as Latif Lala, was a lawyer and Pashtun nationalist politician who was formerly the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan. He was a senior leader of the National Democratic Movement (NDM).
He was a member of the National Assembly between 1997 and 1999, the first provincial president of the Awami National Party (ANP) between 1986 and 1989, and the General Secretary of ANP between 2005 and 2007.
He has also served as the president of the Peshawar High Court Bar Association and the vice-chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council. He was a staunch supporter of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM).
