The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is gearing up for its eagerly awaited 2025 draft, which will take place during the first week of January. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially confirmed that the draft ceremony will be held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The event will kick off at 5 PM, with player selections beginning at 6 PM.
This year, the PSL will feature six franchises, each of which will announce its retained players before the draft. The location of the event is significant, as it marks a shift from the National Cricket Academy, where the previous draft took place.
A host of exciting international stars are expected to enter the draft, including names like Steve Smith, David Warner, and Kane Williamson. However, recent changes by the England Cricket Board (ECB) mean that players under red-ball contracts, such as Jason Roy, will not be eligible to participate.
The draft process will allow each team to select players across several categories: Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver, and Emerging. The first pick will go to the Multan Sultans.
Fans can follow the live updates and watch the draft through the PSL’s official YouTube channel. As teams finalize their strategies, the 2025 season of the PSL promises to bring exciting cricket action and provide a platform for fresh talent to make a mark on the global stage.
