What is Sindhi Culture Day?
Sindhi Culture Day is a vibrant celebration of the rich and centuries-old traditions of Sindh, a province in Pakistan. It is observed with great enthusiasm every year on the first Sunday of December.
On this day, people embrace traditional Sindhi attire, including Ajrak (a hand-printed shawl with unique patterns) and Sindhi Topi (a traditional cap). Festivities take place across major cities in Sindh, where gatherings are organized at press clubs and public spaces to celebrate the culture through various activities.
These include literary events, poetry recitals, mach katchehri (a communal gathering around a fire), musical concerts, seminars, and rallies. Iconic landmarks in cities and towns are adorned with Ajrak, and people exchange Ajrak and Topi as symbolic gifts of friendship and pride.
Children and women join grand assemblies dressed in traditional attire, while renowned Sindhi singers perform songs promoting peace and love—key themes of Sindhi culture. This day highlights the unity, heritage, and beauty of Sindh.
