The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has decided not to host the Pakistan Super League (PSL) playoff matches next year.
According to Cricket Pakistan, PSL franchises had expressed concerns about costs, leading to an assurance that an official would be sent to England to assess the situation. However, England denied the request due to the unavailability of grounds.
Moreover, the PSL will overlap with the IPL 2024, in which many England players are expected to participate.
The report further mentioned that some PCB officials are considering the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as an alternative venue, though they are concerned about the intense heat in May.
Recently, franchises raised concerns with the PCB about profit shares from the ninth edition and other issues. Franchise owners have yet to receive a response from the cricket board, but a senior official assured them in a call that a governing council meeting would be held soon to address their concerns.
The PSL 2025 will be played in April and May due to the ICC Champions Trophy scheduled for February 2025. This will be the first time the PSL overlaps with the Indian Premier League (IPL), as the Pakistan Cricket Board usually hosts the PSL in February and March each year.
