As the general elections draw near, it becomes crucial for voters to be aware of the constituency where their vote is registered, a piece of information linked to the address on their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC). To simplify this process, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has introduced a user-friendly text message service.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on discovering your registered constituency:
- Send a Text Message: Use your mobile phone to send a text message containing your National Identity Card (NIC) number to 8300. Ensure that there are no spaces or dashes in the NIC number.
- Receive Information: Upon sending the CNIC number, the response will provide details such as the name of your electoral area, block code, and serial number.
This text message service provides voters with a swift and convenient method to confirm their constituency. This knowledge becomes especially valuable when casting votes on February 8, eliminating the need to search for this information on the day of the elections.
Alternatively, for those who prefer a different approach, registered voters can visit their respective District Election Commissioner’s office. Here, the final electoral roll is accessible, allowing individuals to check and confirm their particulars well in advance. This ensures that voters have the necessary information, contributing to a smoother and more efficient electoral process.
