SKARDU: Four people including three children have been injured in an earthquake in Gilgit-Baltistan.
An earthquake in Gilgit-Baltistan yesterday damaged a dispensary and an EPI center in Talo Lungma. The Disaster Management Authority (GB) said that a mosque was also damaged by the quake in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Fear and panic spread in different parts of Gilgit-Baltistan on Tuesday due to the earthquake. People came out of their houses reciting the Kalima Tayyaba. Authorities say no casualties were reported.
Earthquake tremors were felt in different districts of Gilgit-Baltistan yesterday. The epicenter was reported at 5.3 on the Richter scale, according to the US Geological Survey. The quake affected Skardu, Astor, and Jaglot.

The quake also caused landslides in many places. Apart from Skardu Astor Road, Karakoram Highway was also closed at several places, and work on its restoration was started expeditiously. The epicenter was reported 26 kilometers north of Astor.
The aftershocks of the quake were felt in Astor and Skardu areas last night. Residents of the area had to spend nights outside their homes in severe cold. Landslides also increased panic.
