LAKKI MARWAT: Deputy Superintendent of Police and his gunman have been martyred in an attack by terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday night.
DSP Gul Muhammad Khan was on a routine patrol in Lakki Marwat when unknown assailants opened fire on the police van resulting in serious injuries to the DSP and his gunman.
Both the injured were immediately rushed to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Norang where both died during treatment. After the incident, a heavy police force reached the spot and cordoned off the area. The police have also started a search operation in the area to arrest the accused.
Earlier on March 27, five Chinese nationals were killed and several others injured while they were traveling in a vehicle near Bisham town in Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Regional police chief DIG Malakand Muhammad Ali Gandapur said a suicide bomber rammed a vehicle packed with explosives into a convoy of engineers who were on their way from Islamabad to their camp in Dasu.
A day earlier, security forces killed four terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the southern district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan.
