KARACHI: Two more bodies have been recovered from Karachi’s Malir River while Rescue workers continued to search for other passengers of the unfortunate vehicle that had been drowned on Wednesday with seven members of one family on board.
According to details, the rescue operation was resumed early in the morning to search for the six members of the family who were swept away along with the driver, in the flood on National Highway Link Road in Karachi on Wednesday.
The sea rescue teams of a charitable trust are searching for missing persons at 2 locations.
The number of dead bodies recovered from Malir River so far reached 4 while the search for more persons was still going on.
One body belongs to a young child who appears to be between 13-14 years of age but has yet to be identified. The other body found is that of Zeeshan, the head of the family.
Rescue workers are still searching for two children, Rabia and Ayyan and the car’s driver Abdul Rehman.
A man, his wife, four children and their driver was travelling to Hyderbad from Karachi when it was hit by the flood on M9 Link Road, the 20km two-lane road that connects Super Highway M-9 and National Highway N-5.
Rescue teams have found the car on the bank of the Malir River, two to three kilometers away from Karachi’s Link Road.
