ISLAMABAD: President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi has asserted that the decision to expel French ambassador from Pakistan will be taken after the resolution is approved in National Assembly.
“Pakistan is a democratic country and a resolution demanding the expulsion of the French ambassador is presented in the lower house for debate,” he said in an interview with the US media on Thursday.
The President further said, “I don’t have the right to say something which, under the garb of freedom of speech, injures the sentiments of others.”
Referring to normalisation of ties with India, he said that Pakistan cannot move towards normalisation of ties with India unless New Delhi rolls back its August 5 move of revoking Article 370 of the Indian constitution.
He also pointed out that the government has informed the global community of India’s involvement in terrorist activities in Pakistan. “India is using the Afghan soil to meddle in the affairs of Balochistan and carry out terrorism there,” he said.
Talking about the Afghan Reconciliation Process, the President said that the US’s decision to withdraw its forces from the war-torn country is a positive step towards peace in Afghanistan. “Pakistan will try to persuade the Taliban to take part in the Turkey conference,” he added.
Commenting on the internal affairs, Alvi stated that when it comes to reconciliation between the government and the Opposition, the matter of accountability is of primary importance.
