QUETTA: The deadlock persists on the nomination of the Caretaker Chief Minister of Balochistan as no name has been finalized.
The parliamentary committee also raised objections on the nomination proposed by outgoing chief minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo. The matter could be decided by the election commission if the committee does not decide on the matter.
The notification of the parliamentary committee for the caretaker chief minister could not be issued yet despite the deadline to pick a name.
The parliamentary committee had sought three names each by the chief minister and the leader of the opposition Malik Sikandar.
Two parties – Balochistan National Party (BNP) and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) – have submitted objections to the names recommended by the opposition leader.
According to reports, the opposition raised objections to the names proposed by Chief Minister Bizenjo in the committee, leading to a stiff deadlock on the matter.
There is however, no candidate selected for the post of interim minister. The notification will be issued after reviewing the rectifying the decision.
Earlier it was reported that Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo and Leader of the Opposition Malik Sikanda reached a consensus on the nomination of Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki as the caretaker chief minister of Balochistan.
The incumbent chief minister and the leader of the opposition agreed upon Domki’s name, just before the deadline for finalizing the name of the interim CM. However, the notification on the appointment was not issued.
The nomination has come on the heels of a meeting between caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, former Balochistan CM Jam Kamal and Domki in Islamabad.
On August 12, Balochistan Governor Malik Abdul Wali Kakar dissolved the provincial assembly on the advice of the chief minister. Bizenjo has been performing duties until a new chief minister comes in.
