ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has recorded another 3,262 cases of the coronavirus on Tuesday, as the situation gets out of control amid the fourth wave.
The latest figures from the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) reported 3,262 cases and 39 deaths in the previous 24-hour period. The national tally of coronavirus cases has reached 1,011,708 while the death toll stands at 23,087.
According to the official portal, the positivity ratio was recorded at 6.6%. There are 2,722 people in critical condition including 45 new patients in the previous day. Overall 928,722 people have recovered from the virus, including 1,123 in the past day.
There were 49,216 tests conducted in the previous day leading to new cases. The number of active cases in the country has also increased to 59,899 amid the recent surge in cases.
Sindh has recorded the highest number of cases so far. The province has recorded 369,245 cases and 5,840 deaths while the number of active cases has surged to 39,199.
Punjab has recorded 353,695 cases and 10,964 deaths, while the number of active cases in the province has reached 11,509. Islamabad has recorded 85,947 cases and 796 deaths while there are 2,430 active cases in the federal capital.
The number of cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stands at 142,139 and 4,423 deaths while Balochistan has recorded 29,681 cases and 326 deaths. Gilgit Baltistan had recorded 7,798 cases and 124 deaths while Azad Kashmir has recorded 23,203 cases and 614 deaths.
Door-to-door vaccination
The NCOC has decided to launch a vaccination campaign in areas under smart lockdown across the areas. The forum announced that lockdown would be lifted on 100 percent vaccination of resident living in the virus-hit areas.
It also decided to vaccinate each and every person residing in the smart lockdown areas, It further added that mobile vaccination teams would be deployed in the smart lockdown areas to carry out door-to-door vaccination campaigns.
The positivity ratio in five districts of the country has gone beyond 10 percent including Karachi and Islamabad. An increasing trend in COVID-19 cases has been witnessed after Eid-ul-Azha raising alarm bells among health officials.
Karachi has reported the most positivity ratio in the country with 24.82 percent, followed by 19.76 percent in Muzaffarabad, 18.9 in Rawalpindi, 14.66 percent in Skardu, 12.41 percent in Peshawar, and 10.95 percent in Islamabad.
