KARACHI: The COVID-19 death toll reached 2,282 as ten more people died of the infection in the province on Monday.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah said 278 fresh COVID-19 cases have been reported during the last 24 hours. He said this while giving a daily update on the virus tally as province so far recorded 124,127 cases after 834,655 tests were performed since the pandemic hit the country.
CM Murad said that currently, 5,861 patients were receiving treatment for the virus with 5,463 of them self-isolating at their homes, six in the isolation centers and 392 receiving medical care in different hospitals.
He said, “251 patients are critical condition, 45 patients are put on the ventilator across the province”. Karachi once again leads the virus tally in the province with 93 positive cases as Qambar, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Dadu, Khairpur, and Shikarpur areas also recorded positive cases in double digits.
Murad Ali Shah informed 243 patients have also recovered in the province from the infection during the past 24 hours, bringing its total tally to 115,984 in Sindh.
Meanwhile, the provincial government has also lifted lockdown restrictions. The government has allowed shops and markets to remain open from 6 am to 8 pm on weekdays and till 9 pm on Saturdays. It also announced that education institutions and marriage halls will reopen from September 15.
Fifteen more people have died of coronavirus in Pakistan while 539 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has surged to 284,659 in the country, while the death toll stands at 6,097, while 260,248 corona patients have recovered across the country.
The number of coronavirus in Pakistan is declining rapidly and according to the data released by the National Command and Operational Center. During the last 24 hours, 23,390 corona tests were performed. A total of 2,127,089 tests have been performed on COVID-19 across the country.
