Countries’ rankings in petrol prices released: Where does Pakistan stand?

‘Global Petrol Prices’  has released the rankings of countries based on the cheapest petrol prices with Pakistan standing at 36th.

According to the organization data for January 27, 2025, and the report from CNBC, Iran has the cheapest petrol in the world, priced at 7.98 Pakistani Rupees per liter. Pakistan ranks 36th in terms of cheapest petrol, with petrol priced at 257.13 PKR per liter as of February 1, 2025.

Hong Kong, on the other hand, has the most expensive petrol in the world, priced at 950 PKR per liter. In the ranking of cheapest petrol Bangladesh stands at 46th, and India at 73rd. Bhutan stands at 22nd, Afghanistan at 31st, Maldives at 34th, Nepal at 75th, and Sri Lanka at 86th.

Regarding diesel, Pakistan ranks 45th with a price of 267.95 PKR per liter, Bangladesh at 31st, and India at 61st. The highest diesel prices are in Hong Kong, with a price of 925.34 PKR per liter.

According to the available data, the first ten countries with the cheapest petrol are: Iran (7.98 PKR per liter), Libya (8.52 PKR), Venezuela (9.76 PKR), Angola (91.58 PKR), Egypt (94.39 PKR), Algeria (94.87 PKR), Kuwait (94.97 PKR), Turkmenistan (119.38 PKR), Malaysia (130.14 PKR), and Kazakhstan (131.90 PKR per liter).

Meanwhile, the most expensive petrol prices are found in Hong Kong, where it costs 950.04 PKR per liter. The next most expensive countries include Iceland (628.59 PKR), Denmark (594.45 PKR), Netherlands (575.62 PKR), Singapore (574.67 PKR), Israel (572.23 PKR), Switzerland (543.47 PKR), Greece (536.93 PKR), Barbados (535.40 PKR), and Norway (534.74 PKR per liter).

In terms of diesel, the cheapest prices are found in Venezuela (1.16 PKR per liter), followed by Iran (1.60 PKR), Libya (8.51 PKR), Algeria (59.87 PKR), Angola (61.05 PKR), Egypt (74.96 PKR), Turkmenistan (79.59 PKR), Kuwait (104 PKR), Saudi Arabia (123.42 PKR), and Ecuador (132.45 PKR per liter).

The countries with the most expensive diesel include Hong Kong (925.34 PKR), Iceland (650.21 PKR), Switzerland (575.24 PKR), Denmark (574.96 PKR), Israel (543.77 PKR), Singapore (525.54 PKR), Norway (524.11 PKR), Netherlands (518.03 PKR), Ireland (509.27 PKR), and Italy (508.54 PKR per liter).
