ISLAMABAD: The prices of food items in the open market has been increased due to the spread of the coronavirus in the federal capital.
In this regard, the prices of pulses and sugar have also been increased.
Kirayana Merchant Association Chairman Pervaiz Butt in this regard said that the price of Dal Mong has increased from Rs 230 to Rs 250 per kg, Dal Mash from Rs 220 to Rs 227 per kg.
The wholesale rate has increased from Rs 2 per kg to Rs and as the market has grown, new prices have to be set with the increase, he added.
The price of white grams has increased by Rs.10 per kg and rice by Rs.12 per kg, he said
He further said that we were also getting a very low supply of all these items. If prices were not raised then we would be forced to strike, he added.
The shroud was previously available for Rs. 1200 with normal sewing but now its new price has been increased to Rs. 2500.
Residents fear that how the situation was becoming more uncertain. Now that inflation was at its peak and If the problem would not be addressed seriously, a situation of chaos could grow worse.
