KARACHI: The novel coronavirus has claimed 14 more lives and infected 1505 people during the past 24 hours in Sindh.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah giving daily COVID-19 briefing said health authorities reported 1505 new covid-19 cases. He said, “Cases to have reported today are 50% more than those diagnosed just a day ago”.
The chief minister informed that 14,572 new samples were tested during the last 24 hours which means the positivity ratio has reached 10 percent.
He said that out of the 855 new COVID-19 cases, 791 emerged only in Karachi on Monday. Murad Ali Shah said that 440 more patients were recovered from the infection over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 197,870.
As per the statistics of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the pandemic has claimed 40 lives across Pakistan, whereas in 2007 new infections were reported during the past 24 hours. About 1,617 patients have recovered from the virus in a day and 2,266 patients are in critical condition.
The National Institutes of Health has confirmed a new strain of coronavirus in Pakistan. According to the National Institutes of Health, a new strain of coronavirus was found in two Pakistanis. Both returned home from the UK.
A total of 40,898 tests were conducted across the country during this period. Overall 455,445 people have recovered from the deadly disease so far while 7,043,604 samples have been tested thus far.
