KARACHI: The number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan jumped to 1,041 on Wednesday after more cases were reported from Balochistan, Sindh, Islamabad and Gilgit Baltistan.
The health authorities have reported 81 new cases during the last 24 hours in the country. The community transmits disease has claimed seven lives in Pakistan whereas six patients are reported to be in serious condition.
Sindh has remained the worst affected region in the country, from the coronavirus with a total of 410 cases.
Sindh
The provincial health authorities have reported a total of 413 confirmed coronavirus cases.
Most of the patients are pilgrims who returned to Pakistan from Iran. Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani was also tested positive for the coronavirus.
While provincial authorities had announced a complete lockdown in the region to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Punjab
Punjab province has reported 296 confirmed cases with 65 cases in Lahore, 20 in Gujrat, 03 in Multan, 02 in Rawalpindi, and from other palaces. According to officials, 281 out of a total of 165 patients have travel history.
The Punjab government has also imposed partial lockdown in the province by imposing section 144.
Balochistan
The health authorities of the Balochistan government had confirmed 115 coronavirus cases in the province whereas the province has been lockdown from today till April 7, taking preventive steps against the diseases.
The provincial Home and Tribal Affairs Department issued a notification stated Section 144 of the Pakistan Penal Code has been imposed.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The KP government has registered a total of 117 cases while a partial lockdown has been imposed to limit the movement of the public due to the diseases.
Islamabad
The capital region has confirmed 16 coronavirus cases. Islamabad administration had also announced the partial lockdown by suspending inter-city transport and shutting all kinds of shopping malls and restaurants.
GB, AJK
Gilgit-Baltistan administration registered a total of 81 cases of the virus and seven cases have emerged in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the National Command and Control Centre for the novel COVID-19, the coronavirus has claimed seven lives, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 03, Sindh: 01, Balochistan: 01, Gilgit-Baltistan: 01, Lahore 01 and Rawalpindi 01.
National Command and Control Centre for the novel COVID-19 said as many as 20 people have fully recovered from the disease so far.
