Education is a basic human right for all and is important for everyone to make the most of their lives. Having an education helps people to access all of their other human rights. Education improves an individual’s chances in life and helps to tackle poverty.
The combined Islamic and modern education provides many different opportunities for equipping young people with the skills to function in a modern state and for preserving Pakistan’s traditions.
Baitussalam’s mission is to facilitate the transformation of marginalized and impoverished Muslims by promoting value-based services particularly in the fields of education, human and community development. MM News got a chance to arrange a meeting with a representative of Baitussalam, to know about their mission.
MM News: How Baitussalam was formed?
Adil Zuberi: Our elders dreamed of an institution where religion and world-class education could be provided free of charge. It seemed impossible at first, but from Almighty Allah’s help, our institution is successfully continuing its journey for the past ten years.
MM News: What education is provided to students? And on what basis people get admission?
Adil Zuberi: We not only offer religious education but also modern education, including O/A levels. We offer several courses for women also. After completing the O level in science, the children do a one-year course in Arabic language. We usually prefer ‘Hafiz-e-Quran’ for admission. However, people contact us for admission to several other courses.
MM News: Which fields are given highest priority in Baitussalam?
Adil Zuberi: The Trust serves in the fields of Education, Publications, Healthcare, Sports, Community Sustainable Development, Shelter, Safe Water Supply, Food Security, Skill Development, Agriculture, Environment Conservation and Energy along with other Welfare, Relief and Charitable causes.
MM News: Any services for students in the practical field?
Adil Zuberi: Baitussalam has also launched a financial package for students studying here. We provide capital to students for their startups. Young people are given ample opportunity to play their part in society.
MM News: In how many countries Baitussalam is operating?
Adil Zuberi: Currently, Baitussalam’s operations are spread across Pakistan as well as in Syria, Turkey and Bangladesh through our international partners.
MM News: Your message for the Pakistani citizens?
Adil Zuberi: Work hard to make it happen. We cannot educate the poor and eradicate poverty all by ourselves; it is a collective effort that necessitates the nation’s contribution. Together we can inspire and enable other humanitarians to respond rapidly to disasters and injustice.
