QUETTA: Pakistan Coastguards continued their operation and arrested thirteen smugglers and also seized narcotics worth Rs 270 million from their possession.
The coastguards conducted an operation at Naka Khari check-post near Winder in Balochistan and stopped two passenger coaches heading to Karachi from Quetta.
The authorities seized seven kilogrammes of crystal meth (methamphetamine) from two passengers, while eight kilogrammes of fine quality ‘charas’ (hashish) was recovered from another passenger.
The suspects were taken into custody and further investigation is underway. According to coastguards, the narcotics are valued at Rs270 million.
In another operation, the coastguards were on routine patrolling in Daam area near Winder when they seized a tanker with 51,800 litres of smuggled Iranian diesel. The coastguards have started vigilance to check smuggling and drugs supply in the area.
It may be mentioned that coastguards in a joint with the army seized narcotics worth Rs4 billion from Shadikaur area of Pasni area in Balochistan and foiled an attempt to smuggle the banned substances abroad.
