RAWALPINDI: The 44-year military career of the current Army Chief will end this month, while 62-year-old General Qamar Javed Bajwa served the nation as the Chief of Army Staff for six years.
According to the details, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, one of the generals with the longest military career, joined the Pakistan Army in 1978 and received his commission on 24 October 1980. On November 29, 2016, General Qamar Javed Bajwa became the Army Chief in place of former Army Chief General Raheel Sharif.
During the tenure of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Nawaz Sharif, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Caretaker Prime Minister Justice (retd) Nasir Mulk, Imran Khan, and Shahbaz Sharif served as Prime Ministers while two Presidents also came during the same period, including former President Mamnoon Hussain and current president Arif Alvi are included.

On November 28, 2019, the Supreme Court suspended the order extending the tenure of General Qamar Javed Bajwa and remarked that no such law existed at all and an extension of six months was given.
As the Army Chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa not only took command of the Pakistan Army but during his tenure, the country suffered the worst flood disaster during which the Pakistan Army helped the flood victims alongside the civilian government. The Army Chief visited various flood-affected areas and assured the people of all possible cooperation.
