West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sustained a severe head injury at her residence, reportedly slipping and hitting her head on a piece of furniture.
The 69-year-old leader was promptly rushed to Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial (SSKM) Hospital in Kolkata, where she underwent treatment for the injury, receiving stitches on her forehead and nose. Despite doctors’ recommendations for hospitalization and monitoring, Banerjee opted to return home, where she will continue to be closely monitored and follow medical advice.
A distressing image shared by the All India Trinamool Congress, Banerjee’s party, showed her in a hospital bed with visible bleeding from her forehead. The medical team at SSKM Hospital stabilized her condition promptly.
In response to the incident, the Trinamool Congress issued a message on social media, requesting supporters to keep Banerjee in their prayers during this challenging time. Sukanta Majumdar, President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, extended well-wishes for Banerjee’s swift recovery, expressing hope for her speedy return to her political duties. Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankar, also conveyed concern for Banerjee’s health and offered prayers for her recovery.
Despite the injury, Banerjee’s condition is being closely monitored, and she will adhere to the doctor’s treatment plan for her swift recovery.
