LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Sunday visited several parts of Lahore without protocol reviewed the lockdown situation.
The chief minister expressed satisfaction over the situation of lockdown in the city. He expressed gratitude to the business community for their full cooperation in closing down the markets and bazaars.
Buzdar lauded the performance of the administration, police, Army and Rangers in ensuring implementation of the coronavirus SOPs and safety precautions.
CM Buzdar reviewed the lockdown situation in Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Gulberg, Garden Town, Model Town and other areas. He also observed the sanitation arrangements and expressed displeasure over the state of cleanliness in the city and the performance of the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC).
A day earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar hinted an imposing a complete lockdown across the province on the suggestion of the provincial cabinet amid the worsening situation of the pandemic.
The chief minister warned that they had no other option but to impose complete lockdown across the province if the situation does not improve.
He urged the people to avoid coming out of their houses without necessary need. He expressed alarm at the positivity ratio of new cases and deaths in different cities of the province which were increasing rapidly.
He reaffirmed that the government would do everything possible to save the lives of the people of Punjab. He informed that his cabinet had given him a suggestion of imposing complete lockdown in all cities including Lahore where positive cases are in a large number.
He said health professionals were also under immense pressure due to the increase in number of patients. He appealed to the masses to follow SOPs and maintain social distancing to fight against the disease. He said that they had imposed a lockdown in Lahore for two days to secure the lives of citizens.
