LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has ordered an inquiry after some doses of COVID-19 vaccine went missing from a hospital in Lahore.
CM Buzdar summoned a report from the health department and ordered an investigation into the missing vaccine doses. He also directed to submit a report after carrying out an audit of the vaccine doses.
Usman Buzdar has said that the disappearance or wastage of the vaccine will not be tolerated. He ordered strict legal and departmental action against those responsible for negligence.
It was reported that around 350 doses of coronavirus vaccines at the Mozang Teaching Hospital may have been ‘waste’ or missing after no record was found or officials failed to maintain storage temperatures.
Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said that the Medical superintendent (MS) of Mozang hospital was suspended after 350 vaccine doses were wasted due to poor storage management.
She said that the vaccine was supposed to be stored at temperatures between 2 to 8 degrees but officials failed to maintain storage temperatures.
On the other hand, a case of alleged disappearance of 550 coronavirus vaccines was also reported in Services Hospital. The principal of the Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) Dr Amjad said the vaccine did not disappear but an error occurred while maintaining the record.
