LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Chairman China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Lt General Asim Saleem Bajwa met on Tuesday and discussed various ongoing projects in the province.
Both agreed on constructing China Center and CPEC Tower in Lahore and also decided to promote seed development and research work in the agriculture sector.
CM Buzdar vowed to assist the Chinese investors establish industries in the province. He said that information desks will be established for industrialists at CPEC Tower where all information will be provided under one roof.
He asked authorities to ensure implementation of guidelines for industrial development and table recommendations for the resolution of issues to the industrialists.
CM Buzdar also issued directives to finalise the regulations for industrial development at the earliest. He said that CPEC has further strengthened the bilateral ties of Pakistan and China.
Asim Saleem Bajwa said that CPEC project has key importance in the stability of the national economy and development work on its projects was expedited.
“CPEC has given a new horizon to Pak-China friendship,” said Bajwa, adding that Pakistan will benefit from China’s experience in the agriculture sector too. “CPEC-related projects have not been paced up and there is a huge potential in the agriculture sector.”
They also decided to promote seed development and research related to the agriculture sector. The chief minister said that 13,000 acres of land will be used for research purpose for seed development and agriculture.
Chairman Board of Investment Atif Bukhari, Punjab Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht, Advisor to Chief Minister Dr Salman Shah, Chairman Punjab Investment Board Sardar Tanveer Ilyaas, Chief Secretary, Senior Member Board of Revenue, and Secretary BoI were also present.
