KARACHI: Sindh Assembly today (Friday) witnessed uproar as lawmakers belonging to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) manhandled each other and chanted slogans against each other.
According to details, the disturbance occurred after PTI’s Khurrum Sher Zaman used non-parliamentary language over which, PPP lawmaker Mukesh Kumar warned him to sit on his seat and have a hold on his tongue.
Both the leaders continued to exchange harsh words despite warnings from Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani. The PPP, while recording a strong protest against Khurrum Sher Zaman’s speech, demanded the speaker to take action into the matter.
Earlier on Thursday, Ruckus had erupted during the Sindh Assembly session as government and opposition lawmakers chanted slogans against each other during speech of Opposition leader Haleem Adil Shaikh who attended the sitting on production orders.
The PPP members began protesting and chanting slogans soon after Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani gave the floor to the leader of the opposition, facing a similar sort of reaction from the PTI.
The house turned into a fish market, as the PPP and PTI kept chanting “Go Niazi Go” and “Go Murad Go” slogans. The Opposition Leader, who was given standing ovation by PTI members upon his arrivals, said that he was subjected to torture during detention.
He said that a snake was deliberately left in his cell under a conspiracy to kill him. “I am a member of Sindh Assembly and request you conduct an inquiry as the snake was found from my cell,” he told to Speaker.
As the PPP lawmakers kept trying to interrupt the Opposition Leader, he said, “there is only three-feet distance between chairs of leader of the house and leader of the opposition. He said that if they were not allowed to speak, nobody including the Chief Minister could speak in the Assembly.
