LAHORE: A group of lawyers manhandled Punjab information minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan who arrived at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) hospital to ease the tensed situation.
The lawyers, who were protesting inside the PIC hospital over a dispute with young doctors, slapped and severely manhandled the provincial minister when he arrived at the hospital to hold talks with the protesters.
In a video posted on social media, Chohan was seen asking assistance of police officials who were standing near to him but no one came to rescue him from outrageous crowd. Later, the minister managed to run away from the site.

The minister said that he arrived in PIC hospital to cool down the tensed situation but he was brutally tortured.
The dispute between lawyers and young doctors happened when a rally attended by hundreds of lawyers stormed PIC in Lahore.
A female patient died amid the untoward situation following the unavailability of on-time medical treatment at the hospital.

Hundreds of patients and many of them in critical conditions remained unattended as the doctors and paramedical staff left the hospital after the lawyers attacked PIC.
The clash started last week a lawyer visited the institute accompanying his relative for his check-up and exchanged words with a doctor. Later, he was joined by other lawyers, while doctors and paramedics also came to support the medic.
