QINGDAO: The Chinese authorities have decided to test the entire population of China’s city Qingdao over a period of five days.
A city with a population of nine million people will be tested with five days. According to details, the Chinese government decided after a dozen cases were found linked to a hospital treating virus patients arriving from abroad.
Earlier, China had tested the entire city of Wuhan, which is also the epicenter of the global outbreak. Where China is successful in mostly bringing the coronavirus under control, other parts of the world including the US, India, and Brazil are still reporting high case numbers and lockdown restrictions of varying severity.

A Qingdao’s official Municipals Health Commission said that around six new cases and six asymptomatic cases had been reported. The Chinese authorities have decided to adopt a strategy of mass testing even when a new coronavirus cluster seems to be relatively minor.
China has presently reported 85,578 virus cases and the death toll stands at 4,634. The first death from coronavirus was reported on 11th January 2020, in China. On 9th April, the total death toll from coronavirus rose to 100,000. The first 100,000 deaths from coronavirus were reported in the first 89 days.
