Armed robbers on two motorcycles looted a trader in broad daylight, escaping with Rs640,000 in cash, mobile phones, credit cards, and other important documents within seconds in Karachi’s New Town area.
According to reports, the incident took place at Zainab Arcade, where three armed men on two motorcycles intercepted local trader Ali Rawani in the parking area and carried out the robbery in just a few moments.
The footage shows the suspects, wearing helmets to conceal their identities, snatching cash, mobile phones, and documents before fleeing the scene. The victim said that the entire robbery lasted around 38 seconds.
Ali Rawani said he had withdrawn Rs640,000 from a private bank branch on Tariq Road and had just reached his building when the suspects, who had been following him on two motorcycles, carried out the robbery at gunpoint.
He added that the robbers also took multiple mobile phones and essential documents. Police officials said that legal proceedings for registering an FIR are underway.
Meanwhile, the President of the Karachi Electronics Dealers Association, Rizwan Irfan, expressed serious concern over the incident.
Traders have demanded that police use CCTV footage to immediately arrest the suspects, recover the stolen money and mobile phones, and take urgent steps to control the rising street crime in the city.
