Can world be saved from destruction?

Shaikh Khalid Zahid by Shaikh Khalid Zahid
September 13, 2024

We have always tried to keep an eye on the ever-changing situation of the world. Not every person can do this because every individual’s priorities are different, and they move forward according to them.

Family issues are limited to the family, regional issues are related to the residents of that area, then come the country’s issues, followed by the region’s issues, and finally the world’s issues catch attention.

Nature assigns responsibilities and provides resources accordingly. Aligning with these resources is a complex problem: whether to sacrifice these resources for personal gain or to use them to address issues so that the affected people can see that resources are being properly utilized.

Humans have woven a web of conveniences around themselves to adorn their lives with as many facilities as possible. They are indifferent to the basic factors used to fulfill these luxuries. The world, divided into class systems, has given much to some and nothing to others. Some people stand to listen, while others do not even bother to listen while walking.

We all guard different ideologies. However, nature has set a formal and definitive plan for living life and managing worldly affairs. Now what is happening is that people are trying to amend this plan according to their own perspectives. Nature never leaves its creations helpless. If humans begin to think that the colors filled in the world are due to their efforts, then nature challenges them to manage these colors, which is impossible. Colors are meant to fade, so why do humans pride themselves on their beauty and then lament when things do not go as they expected?

One of the biggest issues of the present era is the gradual increase in global temperature, commonly known as global warming. Entering the 21st century, the world was engulfed by the severe problem of global warming. An increase in temperature means an increase in heat, making it difficult for humans to maintain their daily routines. The World Meteorological Organization, an agency affiliated with the United Nations, is responsible for informing the world about climatic changes.

Decision-makers and researchers around the world have come together to find ways to tackle global warming. The first step was to establish Ministries of Environment at the governmental level to formally address the issues arising from global warming within their respective countries and to raise awareness among the public.

The most important element that emerged is the planting of more trees, a task being vigorously pursued worldwide. Efforts are being made to plant trees and ensure their growth through every possible means. However, in contrast to this focus, factors causing environmental destruction are abundant: toxic emissions from vehicles and factories, machines used to cool homes and other items, deforestation for industries like paper and tissue manufacturing, and noise pollution. Efforts to reduce these factors or find alternatives are not being pursued as urgently as they should be.

The deaths during Hajj 2024 were also caused by extremely hot weather. The intensity of the sun could dry up a person’s body water in moments. Humans have installed cooling machines in specific areas to reduce or eliminate this heat artificially. These machines are in large numbers where the heat is rising, and the sales of these products are increasing. However, while these products can cool limited spaces, they also release heat, further increasing the external environment’s temperature.

If limited individuals benefit from this comfort, a large number of people are affected by the heat released from these devices. These artificial comforts cannot be used without electricity, which is obtained from various sources and also negatively impacts the environment. There is chaos somewhere in the world. The world, intoxicated with power, is not only striving to increase the production of weapons but also creating the most lethal weapons that are dangerous for both life and the environment.

The preparation and testing of these lethal weapons also harm the environment. The recent situation in Palestine shows that a young girl was shot with 355 bullets. Such use of weapons has perhaps never been seen or recorded in history. Countless missiles are being dropped, and bombardments are happening, meaning every kind of lethal weapon is being used indiscriminately without fear on innocent and unarmed people.

Will the cries and sobs of these innocent, blameless children go in vain? We might be insensitive, but their Creator is not. Humans have started working on alternative sources of energy due to the shortage of resources. However, this is only possible based on natural resources, which means yet again interfering with nature’s affairs. We neither obey nature nor work to please it.

Global warming plays a significant role in the destruction of the world, and human luxuries contribute greatly to warming the environment. We cannot overlook nature’s anger in the increasing temperature. Since humans began interfering with nature’s affairs, nature has started changing its dealings, resulting in disasters for humans.

Be it hurricanes, rains, volcanic eruptions, forest fires, or excessive rainfall, all these are partly due to unnecessary human interference or due to research that disrupts nature’s consistency. A brief overview of global warming has been presented, which is causing material destruction worldwide and pushing the world toward ruin. Now let’s try to discuss human actions that are causing the world to create its own destruction.

Theft, unjust killing, adultery, immorality, disobedience, disrespecting relationships, selfishness, lying, drinking, other addictions, and devaluation of relations are dragging social values towards the brink of destruction. Mentioning social media is crucial when discussing the roots of destruction. This thing called mobile has completely changed the course of life. Neither do you have the justification to doubt someone, nor do you give anyone the right to do so. Now, people do whatever they want without any concern.

Today’s society has completely rejected all previous social values and is engrossed in establishing life routines influenced by the West. There is an increasing inclination from the West to the East. We can call this a clash of two civilizations, and the word “clash” inevitably hints at some form of destruction. If destruction is a word, it has two reins: one we have named global warming, and the other, I call the devaluation of values. Together, these two are leading the world towards destruction.

We have always looked for miracles and have a good understanding of the infinite power of the Creator. However, we are well aware of how we have disobeyed nature in various ways. Continuous work is being done to increase comforts, which is somehow affecting the natural environment. Now, let’s see how long nature tolerates our disobedience and unwarranted interference in its affairs. It is certain that we have chosen the path of destruction for the sake of comforts and an easy life.

We are moving towards destruction to avoid it, but we will realize it only after we are destroyed. That day is not far when we will be officially facing destruction. We will have to turn back, which seems impossible; otherwise, the journey towards destruction will continue to accelerate. God forbid, but it seems that destruction is inevitable now.
