Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2, which was released on Independence Day, is experiencing strong box office performance on its third day. According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, the sequel to the horror-comedy Stree saw a 40.13 percent growth on Saturday, earning Rs 44 crore. The film’s total collection in India currently stands at Rs 135.7 crore.
Stree 2 benefited from its paid previews on Wednesday, which brought in Rs 8.5 crore. On its opening day, August 15, the film earned Rs 51.8 crore. Although there was a dip on Friday with a collection of Rs 31.4 crore, the movie regained momentum on Saturday, amassing Rs 44 crore. Remarkably, in just two days, Stree 2 crossed the Rs 100 crore mark, establishing a strong presence at the box office.
As per market experts, if the film maintains its current momentum, it could surpass Rs 200 crore within a week.
The film has performed impressively despite the competition from Akshay Kumar-starrer Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa, both of which are struggling at the box office.
Stree 2 has also seen increasing occupancy, with Saturday’s occupancy at 61.96 percent. The film has attracted significant footfalls during night shows, with strong turnout in afternoon and evening shows as well. Bengaluru leads in occupancy, followed by Lucknow, Chennai, Jaipur, and Delhi. Overseas, Stree 2 has reportedly collected approximately Rs 15 crore.
Directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Stree 2 features Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi in key roles. Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, and Tamannaah Bhatia make special appearances in the film.
