Airport employees associated with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Action Committee have announced a major protest against outsourcing at airports across the country.
On Thursday, a demonstration was held at Jinnah Terminal’s Arrival Lounge, jointly organized by the representatives of the CAA Action Committee and the union JIKA. Following the protest, a large number of employees gathered at the central thoroughfare of Karachi Airport, with women also participating.
The protesting employees raised slogans against the government and the CAA Action Committee, wearing black armbands.
Addressing the protest, Secretary-General of the CAA Union Samiullah stated that the Director-General of the authority has ruined the organization. They will wage a legal battle against outsourcing in all forums, including the courts.
He further stated that outsourcing has not yielded any significant monetary gains for the organization, as CAA earned 15 billion rupees last year, while the potential is up to 50 billion rupees.
JICA’s Central President, Aziz Maiman, also expressed his determination to fight against outsourcing in courts and other platforms.
