Two masked men breached the Windsor Castle estate while the royal family slept inside.
The incident occurred on October 13, when the thieves scaled a six-foot fence and targeted a barn on the estate’s working farm. They stole a black Isuzu pickup truck and a red quad bike, escaping in the stolen truck by ramming through a security gate.
The break-in took place near Adelaide Cottage, the nearby residence of Prince William, Princess Kate, and their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—who were all asleep at the time.
The cottage is just five minutes from Windsor Castle, and the Shaw Farm gate, frequently used by the royal family, was severely damaged during the burglars’ escape.
A source quoted by “The Sun” speculated that the intruders had been monitoring the estate beforehand. “They must have been watching Windsor Castle for a while,” the source said, suggesting the thieves had planned the heist carefully, knowing when security would be most vulnerable.
The damage to the gate was discovered only after the thieves fled the scene.
At the time of the incident, King Charles was in Scotland, and Queen Camilla was in India ahead of their upcoming tour of Australia and Samoa.
