According to police officials, the incident occurred late Thursday evening when guests and family members were gathered for the celebration. The bride, still clad in her bridal attire, reportedly fired a 30-bore pistol into the air — an act that triggered panic among attendees. Upon receiving information, officers from Mandra Police Station rushed to the scene. Police found the groom, identified as Shehryar Ali, had already fled the venue. The bride, however, was apprehended after a brief chase and taken into custody.
Officials said a case has been formally registered under relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and Arms Act on the complaint of Assistant Sub-Inspector Waseem Akhtar. The pistol used in the incident has been recovered and is undergoing forensic examination. Police have launched a manhunt for the groom, who remains at large till the filing of this report.
Police have urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified videos and to report any such incidents immediately.
