Social media users have once again started demanding a boycott of Bollywood and in this regard, netizens created the hashtag ‘Boycott Bollwyood’ on Twitter.
Since the trailer of Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha has dropped on the internet, social media users have started demanding a ban on the movie already and the reason behind this is not the movie but Khan’s controversial statement.
Khan while speaking about the rising intolerance once in an old interview said that as an individual, as part of this country as a citizen, we read in the papers what is happening, we see it on the news and certainly, I have been alarmed. I can’t deny it. I have been alarmed by a number of incidents, he was quite as saying.
He’d also shared his then-wife Kiran Rao’s opinion, saying, “When I chat with Kiran at home, she says, ‘Should we move out of India?’ That’s a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make. She fears for her child. She fears what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day.”
Aamir had later clarified, stating that the couple had no intention of leaving the country but still, many brought back the remark from years ago.
