American professional boxer Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, like other American boxing legends Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson, has embraced Islam.
The 29-year-old former three-division world champion went to a mosque on Sunday to pray ‘Dhuhr’, where he also took shahadah along with his two other friends.
Before accepting Islam, Davis belonged to Christian faith. Besides, he still has a cross tattoo on his right arm. In addition to his achievements as a boxer, Davis is well-known for his charitable contributions.
The WBC cruiserweight champion Badou Jack posted a warm greeting for Davis on X, which read, “Welcome to Islam, brother Gervontaa. Alhamdulillah.” The post was accompanied by a video clip that showed Davis and his friends reciting the shahadah.

It was a beautiful sitting.

Boasting an undefeated record of 29-0, Davis is a highly popular boxer. Despite his success, he is yet to win an undisputed lightweight title or become a unified champion.
With Devin Haney leaving the division in 2023, opportunities have opened up for Davis to pursue these achievements. His last fight was in April, where he secured a TKO victory over Ryan Garcia.
