ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Farooq H. Naik has proposed the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO) amendment bill in the Senate on Monday.
The NAO amendment bill proposes not to give authority to the National Accountability Bureau Chairman Justice Javed Iqbal and the accountability courts to arrest and grant bail.
According to Farooq H. Naik, the bill states that national institution should only investigate the mega-corruption cases and accused should not be handed over to NAB.
It further proposes that the plea bargain applicant should not be jailed and that the accused should be allowed to contest the elections. The Senate passed the bill to the relevant committee.
The Trade Organization Bill 2019, the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) Act Bill, Pure Food Ordinance 2013, Constitutional Amendment Bill for increasing the seats in the National Assembly and Pakistan Amendment Bill 2019 were also introduced in the Senate today.
