The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) placed a banner at the Karachi airport urging travellers and visitors to beware of pickpockets.
There have been cases of thefts and pickpocketing are on the rise in the lounges, waiting areas, and car parking at the Jinnah International Airport Karachi
Many travellers and visitors have complained of losing their belongings at the airport. There have also been incidents of stealing by offering sweets and other eatables at the Karachi airport. However, no arrests have been made so far.
Rather than taking decisive action, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and airport administration put up banners to caution visitors and travellers to take care of their belongings.
“Beware of the pickpockets. Take care of your belongings yourself,” the banners placed at the airport said.
The aviation regulator said that the banners had been placed in three spots outside international arrivals. However, the banners have been removed as they drew criticism on Twitter.
The users said that such banners provide the worst introduction to the Jinnah International Airport. Other said the CAA had used “modern technology” instead of taking action.
