LAHORE: The 3rd death anniversary of prominent novelist Bano Qudsia is being observed on Tuesday.
Bano Qudsia was born in Feroz Pur (India) on 28 November 1928. She acquired a masters degree from the University of Punjab in 1950 and married a famous writer and playwright Ashfaq Ahmed.

Bano Qudsia wrote extensively on Pakistani plays and contributed to Punjabi literature as well. She wrote for both television and the stage in Urdu.
Qudsia is considered trendsetter and innovative in the field of television plays. A few of her best-loved works are Tamasil, Hawa Kay Naam and Khaleej. Qudsia’s play ‘ Aadhi Baat ‘ is regarded as a classic.
She also shed more light on social matters, especially those focused on marriage, couple love and communication. In 1983, she was honored with Sitara-I-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan for her significant contributions to the literature community in Pakistan.
Similarly, the Pakistan Academy of Letters awarded her Kamal-e-Fun Award in 2010. Bano Qudsia died on 4 February 2017 in Lahore, at the age of 88.
