RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Test captain Azhar Ali has said all players are geared up to win home series against Sri Lanka.
Azhar Ali and Sri Lanka skipper Dimuth Karunaratne held a press conference in Rawalpindi. Pakistan captain admitted that his team could not perform up to the mark during their tour down under.
“Pakistan will try to overcome the mistakes made against Australia and display good cricket versus Sri Lanka. We shall have to give an organised performance to win against the Islanders who always bat and bowl with discipline.
“It is very important for the skipper to perform well. I will try to score as many runs as I can. I want to always keep myself ready to handle the pressure as captain.
“Pakistan will enjoy the benefit of home grounds. The playing XI will be decided after examining the pitch.”

Dimuth Karunaratne said Sri Lanka have prepared a strategy for Pakistan batsmen and will try to win by following the game plan.
“Sri Lanka played well against Pakistan in the past which will boost the team’s confidence. We have devised individual strategies against each player.
“Mickey Arthur has served as Pakistan head coach and he knows about the capabilities of their players. The hosts have a good bowling attack. Test cricket is played for five days and good performance must be shown each day.”
The series trophy was also unveiled today at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in the presence of both captains.
The first Test of two-match series will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from December 11-15. The second game will be played at the National Stadium Karachi from December 19-23.
