In a remarkable turn of events, Australian priest Gould David, after 45 years of dedication to the Church, announced his conversion to Islam, taking on the new name Abdul Rahman.
David’s transformative journey towards Islam began during a trip to Perth for his brother-in-law’s funeral. A significant moment occurred when he booked a hotel only 150 meters away from Perth’s main mosque.
As he passed by the mosque, David felt an overwhelming urge to visit. There, he encountered an imam who kindly gifted him a copy of the Quran.
In an interview with The Deen Show, David recounted the pivotal moment: “For years, the Quran sat on my bookshelf, barely touched. But this time, I returned to the hotel, knelt down, and asked God to show me the absolute truth, whether Islam is true or not, whether Christianity is right or wrong, whether Orthodox Christianity is right or wrong. I prayed for a few moments on my knees.”
He continued, “After praying, I sat down and read the Quran, and I intuitively, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually realized that this is the true word of God.”
David’s experience highlights the profound impact of faith and the pursuit of spiritual truth, resonating with people from diverse religious backgrounds.
