SYDNEY: Legendary Australia spinner Shane Warne was reportedly injured in a motorcycle accident.
Shane Warne was riding along with his son Jackson when he fell off the bike and slid for more than 15 meters. Warne avoided serious injuries but said he had woken up on Monday morning with a lot of pain.
Warne visited a hospital as a precaution fearing he may have broken his leg or damaged his hip after the motorbike accident. Speaking to media, Shane Warne said he was still in pain after the accident on Sunday. “I’m a bit battered and bruised and very sore,” he said.
Shane Warne, 52, is expected to recover in time and begin commentary duties when Ashes 2021-22 starts from December 8 at the Gabba, Brisbane. Warne picked up 708 Test wickets in 145 Tests in a celebrated career for Australia.
Australia will be led by new Test captain Pat Cummins after Tim Paine stepped down due to a texting scandal. Steve Smith has been appointed as the vice-captain of the senior national team.
