ISLAMABAD: A special court on Friday rejected the bail petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi in cypher case.
According to details, ATC dismissed the interim bail of Qureshi in two cases registered against him at Kahna police station, over no-show.
ATC Judge Abu-Al-Hassnat announced the decision after hearing arguments from both sides.
As his client is now incarcerated in a cipher case, Qureshi’s attorney Ali Bukhari had already submitted two different pleas to the court asking for a day’s exemption from the client’s court appearance and summons notice.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi is currently in custody, thus Bukhari requested with the court to prolong his interim remand, but his request was denied.
Prosecutor General Raja Naveed, on the other side, disagreed with the arguments and asked the court to reject the former foreign minister’s interim bail.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is presently detained in connection with a cipher investigation.
The PTI chairman and vice chairman were arrested for “deliberately missing a copy of the diplomatic cipher,” which is relevant to note here.
The Official Secrets Act’s first information report (FIR) was filed on August 15. In response to the Home Secretary’s complaint, it was recorded.
