During yesterday’s proceedings, the 5-judges bench, headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, passed remarks that the delay in registering FIR means evidences were being wasted. The Chief Justice warned that if the FIR wasn’t registered in 24 hours, the SC would take Suo Motu notice.

Acting on the SC orders, IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar submitted compliance report and original copy of the FIR with the Lahore Registry, stating that FIR No 691, dated 07.11.2022 under section 302/324/440 PPC and section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism ACt had been registered at Police Station Wazirabad City.
It is pertinent to mention here that the FIR had been registered against the version stated by PTI leadership, after which the party leaders quickly rejected the move by Punjab Police, and called it a useless paper.
