Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar, has said that Pakistan army was in full swing to tackle coronavirus alongside civil governments.
Addressing a press conference alongside PM’s Special Assistant on Health Dr. Zafar Mirza and Firdous Ashiq Awan, DG ISPPR said that Pak army was following the directions of COAS Bajwa to help civil administration to tackle the virus.
DG ISPR quoted army chief and said, “The army chief has directed all formations to inspect risk assessments at district and tehsil level.”
General Babar Iftikhar further said that Pak Army was helping the civil governments with quarantine facilities as well, adding that there is a comprehensive strategy in place.
He also informed that the operations at Peshawar, Sialkot, Quetta, Faisalabad, and Multan airports will start from March 21, adding that armed personnel will help the civil administration there as well.
Gen Iftikhar also announced that Scientists of Pakistan Army were working to develop sanitisers to tackle the coronavirus.
He said that a national command and control centre has been formed along with all stakeholders including Army, to provide people with updates of coronavirus.
In this regard, we are using television, radio, social media and other platforms to spread awareness, he added.
He also urged scholars, celebrities, influencers, and others must play their part in spreading awareness about the pandemic.
